RAMA

RAMA – Artistic Residency, located in the small villages of Maceira and Alfeiria, in the municipality of Torres Vedras, west part of Portugal, was founded in 2020 and is aimed at national and international artists, researchers and curators who want to develop their research and experimentation work in multidisciplinary areas, crossing contemporary art with science, education and territory.

RAMA organizes artistic residencies, workshops, exhibitions, lectures and outdoor activities, promoting interaction between artists and audiences interested in learning, experimenting and sharing, fostering the relationship with the local community, culture, crafts and traditional knowledge, history and the rural landscape, deepening the knowledge of the region.

Since the beginning, RAMA has the support of the Municipality of Torres Vedras, the Parish Councils of Carvoeira and Carmões and the Parish Councils of Dois Portos and Runa, to which the villages Alfeiria and Maceira, belong respectively.

Paulo Brighenti

Program Coordination and Mentorship

Born in 1968. Art studies at Ar.Co where he taught from 2001-2014 and Drawing Department Head from 2008-2014.
Co-founder of the MArt school in 2013, where he taught and was pedagogical coordinator until December 2019. Exhibits regularly since 1996. Drawing Award 2002, Fundação Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva, Lisbon.

Ana Margarida Sousa

Projects and Communication

Born in 1965, in Lisbon, where she studied Public Relations and Advertising at Instituto de Novas Profissões.
In 1989, started her career in Advertising Agencies, being one of the beginner team of RSCG, today Havas, where stands out the management of Lisbon 94 - European Capital of Culture advertising.
Later at Ogilvy & Mather and d'Arcy / Leo Burnett she continued her path as Account Manager for multinational clients.
In 1998, moved her residence to Maceira village, and in the past years, along with her business activity, dedicated herself to volunteering and the development of local associations.

Ana Anacleto

Curatorship and Mentorship

Born in 1975.
Licenciada em Escultura, pela FBAUL e pós-graduada em Estudos Curatoriais, pela FBAUL/ Gulbenkian. Bolseira na HdK (Universidade de Berlin). Actualmente, é doutoranda em Arte Contemporânea no Colégio das Artes – Universidade de Coimbra. Foi técnica especializada em arte contemporânea no IAC-MC (2001-2003), assistente e coordenadora do estúdio de Julião Sarmento (2003-2015), e curadora e coordenadora curatorial no MAAT/ Fundação EDP (2015-2018). Desde 2003 desenvolve a sua actividade como curadora independente, tendo concebido projectos curatoriais e editoriais para diversos museus e instituições nacionais e internacionais: Museu de Serralves, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Culturgest, MACE, CAV, CAPC, Colégio das Artes, Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar, Fundação Carmona e Costa, Galerias Municipais Lisboa, Appleton Square, Travessa da Ermida, ZDB, Fundação PLMJ, LUX Frágil, Krinzinger Projekte (Wien), ArteInstitute (NY), Galeria 3+1, Galeria Nuno Centeno, Galeria Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, Galeria Caroline Pagés, Galeria Lehmann+Silva,  Giefarte, Quartel da Arte Contemporânea, MIAA, Palacete de São Bento/ Residência Oficial do Primeiro Ministro de Portugal ou Instituto Camões. Realizou investigação, análise e consultoria para colecções privadas. Publicou ensaios, textos e artigos em catálogos e monografias; colaborou com as revistas XXI – Ter Opinião, Pangloss, L+Arte, Umbigo e Contemporânea; realizou comunicações públicas em conferências, seminários e eventos académicos; realizou visitas guiadas temáticas em colaboração com várias instituições museológicas; foi membro de júris de premiação e selecção para Prémios, Bolsas de Investigação e Residências Artísticas; e realizou diversas conversas públicas com artistas no âmbito de vários projectos expositivos. É curadora e programadora de artes visuais no CAV, em Coimbra, onde desenvolve desde 2020 o ciclo de exposições “Museu das Obsessões”. É membro da Comissão para Aquisição de Arte Contemporânea da Colecção do Estado – MC. Lecciona a cadeira “Práticas de Curadoria” na Pós-graduação em Curadoria, na FCSH – NOVA, em Lisboa.

HElena Valsecchi

Web Design, Social Media and Projects

Born in Novara, Italy, in 1976. She currently lives and works between Lisbon and Peniche.
Graduated in Public Relations at IULM University in Milan in 1999.
Until 2007, she has developed a career in marketing and commercial areas in multinational companies based in Milan.
In 2008 she moved to Lisbon, where she started a business and initially developed her artistic career as a self-taught person, then deepening it at Ar.Co and at MArt, in Lisbon.
Since 2015, she has been regularly exhibiting in Portugal and abroad, and she has participated in several artistic residencies.
