Ana de Almeida vive e trabalha entre Lisboa e Viena, cidade onde tem desenvolvido a sua investigação em Critical Studies na Academia de Belas Artes deViena a par da sua actividade como docente na mesma instituição, assim como no departamento de Literatura da Universidade de Viena e no departamento de Estudos Transculturais da Universidade de Artes Aplicadas.
O seu trabalho centra-se em modos operacionais de arquivos e processos de memória numa perspetiva sociopolítica. Foi nomeada em 2011 para o Prémio BES Revelação, tendo desde então apresentado o seu trabalho em instituições portuguesas como o CAV em Coimbra, MAAT e MNAC em Lisboa, mas sobretudo em contexto internacional. Das suas exposições e projectos individuais destacam-se (In)verso.
